Melting marshmallow in a saucepan

Step 2 – Place the butter and marshmallow in a large saucepan. Melt butter together over low heat stirring frequently. Once the ingredients are melted and combined, remove from heat.

Adding the green food coloring to the melted marshmallows

Step 3 – Add in the green gel food coloring until the mixture is a vibrant green coloring. Continue adding until your desired shade of green.

Mixing in the cereal into the marshmallow mixture

Step 4 – Slowly stir in the Rice Krispie Cereal.  Mix until the cereal is coated in the mini marshmallows and butter mixture.

Pressing the marshmallow mixture in baking dish

Step 5 – Press the mixture into the prepared baking sheet.  I like to spray a piece of parchment paper with non-stick spray. Use that parchment paper to press the cereal down into the baking dish. Top with red heart sprinkles and serve.

Recipe Tips

  • Melting Butter and Marshmallows – Make sure that these two ingredients are melted completely before adding in cereal. Melt marshmallow and butter in a large saucepan.
  • Remove from heat – Once they have melted remove from heat.
