Grinch Rice Krispie Treats Recipe:

We love making rice krispie treats for the holidays because they are easy to make and made with simple ingredients. Adding the green food coloring and grinch small heart makes the perfect holiday treat.

We love to make these or Grinch Brownies while decorating the tree or watching The Grinch stole Christmas. They are simple to make and the perfect cereal treats!

Add these treat to your dessert table this holiday season and your friends and family will be impressed.

Ingredients needed - rice krispie cereal, marshmallows, butter, food coloring, red heart sprinkles

Ingredients:

  • Rice Krispie Cereal
  • Marshmallows 10 oz
  • Butter
  • Green Gel Food Coloring
  • Red Heart Sprinkles

How to Make Grinch Rice Krispie Treats Recipe:

  • Step 1 – Prepare Pan – Spray a 9X13 pan with a non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
  • Step 2 – Melt butter and marshmallows – Place the butter and marshmallow in a large saucepan. Melt together over low heat stirring frequently.
  • Step 3 – Melt – Once the ingredients are melted and combined, remove from heat.
  • Step 4 – Add green food coloring – Add in the green gel food coloring until the mixture is a vibrant green coloring.
  • Step 5 – Stir in Cereal – Slowly stir in the Rice Krispie Cereal.  Mix until the cereal is coated in the marshmallow and butter mixture.

  • Step 6 – Press mixture into pan – Press the mixture into the 9X13 pan. 
  • Step 7 – Spray Parchment Paper – I like to spray a piece of parchment paper with non-stick spray. Use that parchment paper to press the cereal down into the baking dish.

  • Step 8 – Add Red Heart – Top the Rice Krispie treats with the red heart sprinkles.

How to Cut Rice Krispie Treats Smoothly:

  • Make sure Rice Krispie Treats have cooled completely.
  • Remove the entire Rice Krispie Treats from the pan with the parchment paper.
  • Place on a cutting board and cut with a sharp knife.
  • You may need to spray the knife with cooking spray to prevent the treats from sticking to the knife.
  • Slice into small squares and place on a platter.

Tips for Grinch Rice Krispie Treats:

  • Melting Butter and Marshmallows – Make sure that these two ingredients are melted completely before adding in cereal. Melt marshmallow and butter in a large saucepan.
  • Remove from heat – Once they have melted remove from heat.
  • Pressing into pan – Use parchment paper or sheets of wax paper to press cereal mixture into pan.

How to Store:

Store leftover rice krispie treats in an air tight container at room temperature. They will last about 5 days.

Recipe Variations:

  • Candy Melts – Drizzle the top with green candy melts for added flavor.
  • M&M – You can use a red M&M instead of a red candy sprinkle.

  • 1 pkg Marshmallows 10 oz
  • 3 tbsp Butter
  • Green Gel Food Coloring
  • Red Heart Sprinkles

Instructions

  • Spray a 9X13 pan with a non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
  • Place the butter and marshmallow in a large saucepan and melt together over low heat stirring frequently.
