How do you Dye Popcorn Green?

We recommend using gel food coloring to ensure that the popcorn is a vibrant green color like the Grinch.

Add green food coloring to the popcorn and continue adding until how green you want it.

Recipe Tips:

  • Mixing Ingredients – Stir the ingredients together with a spatula or a spoon. The marshmallow mixture will be warm to mix with your hands. Make sure to coat the popcorn completely with the mixture.
  • Popcorn – Prepare your popcorn ahead of time. You can also use store bought popcorn if you prefer.
  • Line Baking Sheet – Pour the popcorn mixture onto a baking sheet that is covered with parchment paper. This helps for an easy cleanup and prevents it from sticking to the baking sheet.
  • Prepare Ingredients – I recommend preparing the ingredients before mixing everything together. The marshmallow mixture will harden quickly.
  • Cool Completely – Before serving, make sure the popcorn has cool completely. You will need to break the popcorn into pieces for serving and storing.

Grinch Popcorn Variations:

  • Add-Ins – Feel free to add in more sprinkles, nuts and chopped candy bars.
  • Extract – For added flavor you can add in cinnamon or nutmeg.
  • Change the Colors – We used mini marshmallows in this recipe, but feel free to use green candy melts. They come in other fun colors and this popcorn would be delicious with other colors.
  • Chocolate Chips – You can also use melted white chocolate chips to melt for the creamy mixture.
  • Red M&M’s – You can use red sprinkles instead of Red M&M’s if you prefer. They even had red heart sprinkles that would work perfectly in this recipe.
  • Popcorn – Feel free to use different popcorn. You can use microwave popcorn, already cooked popcorn, and store bought popped popcorn. We like using plain popcorn for this recipe, just make sure to use the kernels.
