- Change the Candy – There are so many different candy that you can use to make the candy buttons. You can use chocolate chips, sprinkles, smarties or any small candy will do.
- Snowman Arms – We like using pretzel sticks for the Snowman arms, but you can also use black licorice.
- Change the Cake Mix – Any cake mix will work with this recipe. Make a chocolate cupcakes or strawberry cupcakes for a fun variation to this recipe.
- White Sprinkles – To give it more of a snow affect, sprinkle the top of the frosting with white sprinkles.
- Homemade Cupcakes – We like to use a box cake mix just to make things easy. But feel free to make cupcakes from scratch using flour, baking powder and sugar.
- Cupcake Holder – We like to bake the cupcakes in a fun and festive cupcake holder. Choose from black, red or green.
Cupcake Snowman Recipe Tips and Tricks:
- Prepare Cupcakes – Feel free to prepare the cupcakes ahead of time. You want to make sure the cupcakes are fully cooled before frosting.
- Adding the Frosting – We recommend putting the frosting in piping bags to add the frosting to the melting snowman cupcakes. But you can also place the frosting in a zip lock bag. Cut a hold in one of the corners to apply.
- Snow Like Frosting – Use a circular motion to gradually add icing to form a snow like frosting on the cupcake.
- Drying the Snowman Face – Allow the snowman face to dry completely before serving. This keeps the eyes and knows from bleeding onto anything else.
How to Make the Snowman Face:
Making the snowman face on the marshmallow is fun to do with the right tools. We recommend getting the black icing and orange decorating gel for best results.
Once you have placed the marshmallow on the frosted cupcake, then you start adding the face to the cupcakes. We just added eyes and a carrot nose, but feel to add dots to form a mouth.
Draw the face of the snowmen any way you want.
Can I Prepare ahead of Time?
You can prepare these cupcakes ahead of time. Just make sure not to far in advance as the face gel could start bleeding onto the marshmallow. If you place on having leftovers, just decorate the ones that you are serving.
How to Store Leftovers:
Store your leftover cupcakes in an air tight container. They will stay fresh for up to 5 days. This family favorite cupcake can be enjoyed all season long.
