How to Make Red Velvet Trifle

  • Step 1 – Make Red Velvet Cake – Make the red velvet cake based on the package instructions in a 9X13 pan. Allow the cake to cool completely at room temperature.
  • Step 2 – Cut the Cake – Cut the cake into cubes.  Reserve a small amount of the cake for the topping and crumble it to cake crumbs.
  • Step 3 – Whisk the Pudding mix with milk – In a small bowl, combine the white chocolate pudding mix with the milk. Whisk for two minutes and set aside.
  • Step 4 – Beat Cream Cheese – Place the cream cream cheese into a large bowl. Beat the cream cheese with a hand held mixer for 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy.
  • Step 5 – Add in Powdered Sugar – Reduce the speed to low and gradually add the powdered sugar. Once all of the sugar is incorporated, increase the speed to medium and beat for 1 minute, or until smooth.
  • Step 6 – Mix the Cream Cheese Mixture with Pudding Mix – Add the prepared pudding to the cream cheese mixture and gently fold and stir with a rubber spatula until completely combined.
  • Step 7 – Fold in Cool Whip – Next, add in 8 oz Cool Whip to the bowl and fold it into the mixture until no white streaks remain.
  • Step 8 – Layer the Cake Place red velvet cake cubes in the bottom of a trifle dish or glass bowl.  Add just enough to cover the bottom of the pan.
  • Step 9 – Assemble the Trifle – Drizzle the white chocolate mixture over the cake cubes.  Making sure to cover the cake.  Then continue to layer the ingredients in the glass dish until you have used all the ingredients.
  • Step 10 – Top the Dessert – Then top the trifle with the remaining cool whip, reserved cake crumbs and ½ cup mini chocolate chips.
  • Step 11 – Serve and Enjoy – Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

  • 1 box box Red Velvet Cake Mix Plus Ingredients to prepare the cake based on the package instructions.
  • 2 boxes White Chocolate Pudding Mix 3.4 oz or Cheesecake flavor
  • 2 cups Cold Milk
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese softened at room temperature
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 16 oz Cool Whip divided
  • 1/2 cup Mini Chocolate Chips
