  • Red Candy – If you are unable to find the red heat candy, you can use red sprinkles instead.
  • Peppermint – We used crushed candy canes to make this recipe, but you can also use peppermint candy. Feel free to use other types of candy to fill the chocolate molds.
  • Mint – If you want a minty flavor, add teaspoon of mint extract to the melted chocolate. We love the flavor it adds to the hot chocolate.
  • Hot Chocolate Balls – These hot cocoa balls can be filled with many different things. We have even added in mini chocolate chips or other fun sprinkles. We love adding hot cocoa powder to the molds.

Recipe Tips

  • Microwave Chocolate – Melt chocolate in 30 second increments until the chocolate is melted. Make sure that the chocolate does not burn. We recommend using a microwave safe bowl to melt the chocolate.
  • Layering Chocolate – Layer the chocolate in the mold and allow the chocolate to harden. You want to make sure the chocolate hardens so it easily removes from the mold. Use back of a spoon to spread chocolate into the molds.
  • Refrigerate Molds – Once you have filled the chocolate molds refrigerate for about 20 minutes.
  • Heat Plate – Heat a plate or a baking sheet to place the melted chocolate halves on.
