Mix milk, egg, butter, green food coloring

Step 2 – Then in a separate large bowl whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter and green food coloring.

Add dry ingredients and wet ingredients together

Step 3 – Add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Mix for approximately 30 seconds until the ingredients are combined.

Cook the pancakes on a skillet

Step 4 – Grease with a non-stick cooking spray or a small amount of butter. Add the batter to the pan.  Each Christmas tree is approximately 6-8 pancakes stacked on top of each other.  Start with ¼ cup batter. Then make the following pancakes each a little smaller so that they easily stack on top of each other.

  • Step 6 – Cook the pancakes for 2-3 minutes until small bubbles start to appear at the top of the pancake.  Flip the pancake and finish cooking for 2-3 more minutes until golden brown.
  • Step 7 – Transfer the pancakes to a plate and continue this process until all the batter is used.

  • Step 4 – Sprinkle the candy coated chocolate chips on top to look like the Christmas tree ornaments.
  • Step 5 – Serve immediately and enjoy.

Recipe Tips

  • Prepare Skillet – I like to cook the pancakes on heated skillet. Make sure to melt butter or cooking spray to prevent the pancakes from sticking.
  • Flipping Pancakes – Once bubbles form start appearing on the top of the pancake, then it is ready to flip. It usually takes about 3-4 minutes before it is ready to flip. It will depend on your skillet how long it takes.
  • Different Size Pancakes – To create the Christmas tree, you want to make different size of pancakes.
  • Serving – I like to prepare all the pancakes at once and then serve. This allows us to eat as a family. Feel free to place on a baking sheet and keep in a low heat oven to keep them warm.

Christmas Tree Topping Ideas

There are many ways to top these Christmas Tree Pancakes. These fluffy pancakes are delicious as they are served or one of these toppings.

  • Fresh Fruit – Instead of using sprinkles, use strawberries and blueberries to decorate.
  • Maple Syrup – We love to drizzle maple syrup over the top before serving.
  • Chocolate Chips – Use mini chocolate chips instead of sprinkles.
