Variations

  • Change the Filling – You can easily make a cinnamon roll apple pie with apple pie filling. This makes for a delicious variation to this recipe.
  • Pumpkin Filling – For a delicious fall dessert, spread a layer of canned pumpkin on the cinnamon rolls crust. It pairs perfectly with the pecan pie filling.
  • Frosting – We like the cream cheese glaze that comes with the store bought cinnamon rolls, but you can easily make homemade glaze.
  • Homemade Cinnamon Rolls – To make this cinnamon roll pie easy, we like to use canned cinnamon rolls. But you can make homemade cinnamon rolls from scratch to make this pie.
  • Nuts – You can change the nuts in this recipe. Pecans work great, but try using chopped walnuts or sliced almonds.
  • Pie Crust – Feel free to change the pie crust to a regular pie crust and then top it with cinnamon rolls.

Expert Tips

  • Canned Cinnamon Rolls – We used the Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls to make this recipe. But you can use any brand you prefer. We do recommend using the normal size.
  • Prepare Baking Pan – Prepare the baking pan by spraying the cooking spray in the bottom of the pan. This help to easily remove a slice of pie.
  • Prepare Cinnamon Rolls – Remove the cinnamon rolls from the can and cut the cinnamon rolls in half. Then flatten with the rolling pin to form a crust for the pie.
  • Preparing the Pie – Once you have topped the cinnamon rolls on the pecan pie filling make sure to squeeze and press down on the filling. This allows for the everything to bake together evenly.
  • Frosting – Before topping the cooked pie, allow the pie to cool. Then drizzle with the frosting that came with the cinnamon rolls for a delicious pie.
  • Cooking Time – Cooking time may vary to bake golden brown on this Cracker Barrel pie. It could take up to 30 minutes to make this pie. Make sure to cover with foil while bake so that the bottom crust bakes without burning the top.

How to Serve

Cinnamon roll pie is best served warm. You can enjoy this cinnamon roll with a traditional bacon and eggs but it is also delicious with a cup of coffee. We even love to serve with vanilla ice cream.

Add a whipped cream topping with extra nuts and chocolate chips for a rich and decadent treat. We like to serve with a bowl of fruit salad for delicious flavor.

The cinnamon rolls can be reheated in the microwave for about 30 seconds or reheat in the oven.
