Variation Ideas

  • Buttermilk – You can use buttermilk instead of regular milk in this recipe. In a large bowl whisk buttermilk melted butter and vanilla. Then add in sugar, baking powder, baking soda.
  • Banana Slices – Instead of a strawberry slice for the nose, you can use a banana slice.
  • Cinnamon – For a warm flavor pancake recipe, mix in a teaspoons of cinnamon.
  • Gluten-Free – If you prefer to make these gluten free use a gluten free batter. Check the other ingredients before adding to make sure they are gluten free.
  • Candy – Instead of using chocolate chips for the eyes, you can use different types of candy.

Recipe Tips

  • Pancakes – Make pancakes into a round shape to make the Santa Face. They do not need to be perfect.
  • Prepare Pan – Make sure to preheat skillet or griddle and melt butter on the skillet before adding pancake batter.
  • Hot Skillet – Prior to adding the batter on the skillet, make sure it is hot. We like to wait until the butter is sizzling.
  • Flip Pancakes – Once the pancakes have cooked and started bubbling, it is ready to flip to the second side. You will cook the pancakes for about 2 minutes on each side.
  • Make Santa Face – We recommend making the santa pancakes on the serving place.
