Variation Ideas

  • Jello Flavors – This pie can be made with a variety of jello packets. Feel free to make a strawberry jello pie, raspberry or lime pie. Add your favorite sprinkles for a crowd pleasing treat.
  • Add in Fresh Fruit – If you love to add in fruit to your gelatin mixture, you can with this recipe. You can add in pineapple, small oranges, or diced strawberries.

How to Prepare Graham Cracker Crust

For the Crust: 

  • Step 1 – Line Pan – Line the bottom of a springform pan with parchment paper. 
  • Step 2 – Combine Crust Ingredients – Stir together the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter and sugar until well combined. You can crush the graham crackers with a food processor.
  • Step 3 – Press Crust – Then press this mixture into the bottom of the pan. Then up the sides approximately 1 ½ inches all around the pan.  
  • Step 4 – Freeze Crust – Place the pan in the freezer to allow the crust to set. 

How to Make Jello Pie Filling

Step 1 – Whisk the lime jello mix with 1 cup of boiling water until the mix is dissolved. Then stir in 1 cup of cold water.  Refrigerate for 30-45 minutes to allow the jello to thicken slightly.

Step 2 – Remove from the refrigerator and stir in 1 container of cool whip. Mix until combined and add green food coloring to the mixture until it’s the color of green that you prefer. 

  • Step 3 – Pour Into Crust – Pour the mixture over the prepared pie shell in the springform pan.  Place in the refrigerator while you prepare the other layers. 
  • Step 4 – Make Lemon Jello – Mix the lemon jello mix with 1 cup of boiling water until the mix is dissolved. Then stir in 1 cup of cold water.  Refrigerate for 30-45 minutes to allow the jello to thicken slightly. 
  • Step 5 – Mix in Cool Whip – Remove from the refrigerator and stir in 1 container of cool whip until combined.  Do not add any food coloring to this layer.  
  • Step 6 – Layer into Pan – Pour this mixture on top of the green jello layer in the springform pan. Then place back in the refrigerator while you prepare the final layer.

Step 7 – Mix the cherry jello mix with 1 cup of boiling water until the mix is dissolved. Then stir in 1 cup of cold water.  Refrigerate for 30 minutes to 45 minutes to allow the jello to thicken slightly.

Step 8 – Remove from the refrigerator and stir in 1 container of cool whip. Mix until combined and add red food coloring to the mixture until it’s the color of red that you prefer.  

  • Step 9 – Layer in Pan – Pour this mixture on top of the white (lemon) layer in the springform pan. Then place back in the refrigerator to chill for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving. 
  • Step 10 – Loosen Pan – When serving, gently loosen the springform pan by running a knife around the edges of the pan.  Remove the outside layer of the pan. 
  • Step 11 – Serve and Enjoy – Top the pie with whipped cream and sprinkles.  Then it’s ready to slice, serve and enjoy.

Recipe Tips

  • Pan – When making this Easy Jello Pie we recommend using a springform pan. This allows you to stack the layers in the deep dish pan. It is so eye pleasing for a delicious holiday dessert.
  • Graham Cracker Pie Crust – Make pie crust from scratch is easy to do in a mixing bowl. Make sure to press the pie crust mixture into the pan’s bottom and sides. Place in the freezer to allow to set.
  • Jello Mixture – You will prepare each jell-o layer separately and then mix in the cool whip. This allows for the beautiful layers to be separate. Make sure to allow the refrigerate the jello mixture so everything is set.
  • Removing the pan – You may need to loosen the pan by running a knife around the edges.

What is the Best Crust to Use?

This pie is delicious with any types of crust. We have used a store bought crust and made it with an Oreo Crust. Feel free to use different types of cookies, such as vanilla wafers.

Can this Pie be Made in Advance?

Yes, we recommend making this pie in advance. Because the pie needs time to set while preparing it is best to make ahead of time. The prep time is simple which makes this perfect desserts for any occasion.

We recommend making it the night before serving.
