Ingredients:
For the Cookies:
- Sugar Cookie Mix
- Ingredients to make the cookie based on the package instructions
- Large Marshmallows cut in half
- Long Orange Sprinkles
- M&Ms
- Black Decorating Gel
For the Royal Icing:
- Egg Whites
- Powdered Sugar
- Cream of Tartar
How to Make Melting Snowman Cookies:
- Step 1 – Prepare Cookies- Prepare the cookies based on the package instructions for round sugar cookies. Bake in the oven at the right temperature. Spray the baking sheet with cooking spray or cover with parchment paper.
- Step 2 – Cool Cookies – Let the cookies cool completely before decorating. We recommend placing on a cooling racks.
- Step 3 – Beat Icing – Beat together the royal icing ingredients in a medium bowl to a 10 second consistency. You can beat on high power with an electric mixer or a stand mixer.
- Step 4 – Add icing to piping bag – Fill a piping bag with the icing. Then cut off a small tip in the piping bag.
- Step 5 – Frost Cookie s- Frost each of the cookies with the icing. Then allow the icing to drip over the sides of the cookies to look like melted snow.
- Step 6 – Half Marshmallows – Immediately add half of the marshmallows onto each cookie toward the back of the cookies.
- Step 7 – Top with M&M’s – Then add the M&Ms in the front to resemble the buttons on a snowman.
- Step 8 – Dry Icing – Allow the icing to dry completely (20-30 minutes). Then use the black decorating gel to add on the face and black stick arms.
- Step 9 – Add Orange Nose – Use the leftover white icing to attach the long orange sprinkle. This will help to attached onto the marshmallow for the nose of the snowman.
- Step 10 – Serve and Enjoy – Let the decorating gel completely and then the cookies are ready to serve and enjoy.
Assembling Melted Snowman Cookies:
These melted snowman cookies are so fun to make. You only need a few ingredients to make these Snowman Cookies.
- We start by making the frosting the cookies and allow it to fall to the sides of the cookies. This make it look like the snowman is melting.
- Then cut the marshmallow and immediately top the halved marshmallow with icing.
- We topped the icing with M&M’s to for the buttons in the middle of the cookie. But you can also use miniature chocolate chips.
- Use black gel coloring to draw the eyes and arms on the head of the snowman and frosting. You can also use black licorice to create the arms.
- We used a orange sprinkle to create the nose, but you can also use orange food coloring.
- We did not add a scarf or a pipe, but that would be a fun addition to get creative with.

- Marshmallow – Instead of using a marshmallow, feel free to use a peanut butter cup for a chocolate flavor.
