Variation Ideas

  • Cake Mix – We used a white cake mix to make this recipe. Feel free to use whatever your cake mix you prefer.
  • Sprinkles – We used sanding sugar on these truffles, but you can use other types of sprinkles. Red, green sprinkles or white sprinkles are always a fun and festive look.
  • Dip into Milk Chocolate – For an even more delicious treat, melt chocolate in microwave to dip the truffles in. We recommend using a microwave-safe bowl. You can melt white chocolate chips, dark chocolate, and semi sweet chocolate.
  • Crush Peppermint – For a minty flavor, roll the truffles into crushed peppermint.
  • Nuts – If you like nuts on your truffles, crush up pecans, walnuts or almonds for a crunchy texture.
  • Cocoa Powder – For a delicious texture, roll the truffles in cocoa powder. This really enhances the chocolate flavor.

Can you Freeze Christmas Truffles?

We love to make holiday candy and this is always on the list. You can easily double the batch and freeze the Christmas Truffles.

We like to flash freeze the truffles by placing on a baking sheet separately. Then placing in the freezer to freeze for about an hour.

Once they are slightly frozen, place in them in a zip lock bag. This way you can take out the amount you need to serve.

How to Store Leftover Truffles

Refrigerate the leftovers in an airtight container for up to 1 week. We like to cover in a plastic wrap before storing.
