Can you Freeze Fudge?

Yes, fudge is very easy to freeze to enjoy later. It is easy to prepare in advance so that you can save time during the holidays. We like to double the recipe so we always have fudge stocked in the freezer.

  • Room Temperature – Make sure the fudge is completely cool and set before freezing.
  • Wrap Fudge – Wrap the fudge in parchment paper and then in plastic wrap or foil.
  • Place in Freezer – Place inside a freezer container or ziploc bag.
  • Date Container – Fudge is great for about 3 months in the freezer. Make sure to date the container so you can serve it before it goes bad.
  • Adding Sprinkles – If you plan to freeze the fudge, wait until later to add the red and green sprinkles. Just add them after the fudge has thawed before serving.

Recipe Tips:

  • Melting Chocolate – It is crucial to the outcome to melt the chocolate in intervals. Then make sure that you stir in between each interval. Melting the chocolate too fast and all at once can result in burnt chocolate.
  • Prepare Baking Dish – We recommend lining the baking pan with parchment paper. It makes it easy to remove the fudge easily to cut and serve.
  • Chill Fudge – Chill the fudge for at least 2 hours or until firm. We like to make it the night before serving so it can chill in the fridge overnight.
  • Topping with sprinkles – The sprinkles will stick better if you top them on the fudge right after pouring into pan.
  • Homemade Gift – If you like making homemade gifts, make this Christmas gifts. It would be perfect for your neighbors, kids teachers and friends.

Can I Melt Chocolate on the Stovetop?

Yes, you can melt chocolate in a saucepan on the stovetop. This is a great option if you do not want to melt the chocolate in the microwave. Feel free to use a double boiler over medium heat.

  • Place the semi-sweet chocolate chips in the double boiler.
  • Heat until the chips are almost melted then remove from the heat.
  • Then stir to combine until it is a smooth consistency.
