Can I Make Ahead of Time?

Yes, this is the perfect dessert to prepare ahead of time. You can easily make this dessert up to 3 days prior to serving. We actually think it is better if you make it in advance as it allows the layers to firm up.

This gives you time to prepare other recipes for your holiday dinner.

Christmas Lasagna Tips:

  • Making the Red Velvet Cake – You will not use the instructions that are listed on the cake mix box. Prepare the cake with butter and egg according to the recipe.
  • Layers – Make sure to allow each layer to chill prior to adding the next layers. This allows for each layer to be distinct when cutting.
  • Cool Whip – Make sure to use cool whip topping when combining with the other ingredients.
  • Food Coloring – When adding in the green food coloring, make sure you are adding a few drops at a time.
  • Softened Ingredients – Make sure the cream cheese and butter has softened before mixing with the other ingredients. It helps to create a smooth and creamy texture.
  • Spread the Layers Evenly – Evenly spread the layers across the pan so that all areas are covered.
  • Chill Dessert – Allow the cake to chill for at least 30 minutes before serving for best results.
