Instructions

  • Add the butter and marshmallows to a microwave safe bowl.  Melt by microwaving in 30 second intervals and stir between each interval until fully melted.
  • Add the green gel food coloring to this mixture and stir until it’s a vibrant green color.
  • Gradually add in the rice Krispies cereal. Mix until completely coated.
  • Let the mixture cool slightly so you can handle the mixture with your hands.
  • Spray your hands with a non-stick cooking spray.  Then shape approximately 1/3 cup of the mixture into a cone (Christmas tree shape) and press the mixture firmly together.
  • Decorate with the decorating gel and mini M&Ms.
  • Top each one with a gold sprinkle and use the decorating gel to place a Reeses peanut butter cup on the bottom of each tree for the stems.
  • Let the trees sit at room temperature for 1-2 hours until the mixture and decorating gel is set.
  • Then they are ready to serve and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days.  Do not refrigerate as it will make the Rice Krispies treats tough.
